Now Accepting Enrollment in the Fall 2010 BEDC Management Development Academy
BEDC is excited to be able to continue to offer this engaging and tool-packed academy to its members. The Fall BEDC Management Development Academy will begin Tuesday, September 28 and run for 7 consecutive Tuesdays through November 9, 2010. The academy has drawn rave reviews from many of the 200 graduates of the program. It has, in fact, been described by several as "the academy of choice for entry to mid-level managers." Priced at just $1350 for enrollment prior to August 24th (price increases to $1500 after the 24th), the academy is an exceptional value. Participating companies have included Ardea Biosciences, Biosite Incorporated, bioTheranostics, The Burnham Institute, Cadence Pharmaceuticals, CryoCor, Inc., Cypress Biosciences, Ferring, Halozyme Therapeutics, Helixis, Inc., Kyowa Hakko Kirin CA, Inc., Neurocrine Biosciences, Optimer Pharmaceuticals, Pacira Pharmaceuticals, Pharmatek, Prometheus Pharmaceuticals, Quidel, The Salk Institute, Takeda San Diego, Inc., and the Torrey Pines Institute.
While it may seem early, the Fall Academy is the most popular time for companies to send participant and we are already starting to receive registrations from companies, so enroll early to secure your spot(s). You may hold spots for your company now (with payment) and decide who to send later. Student Internships and College Scholarships
Many BEDC member companies, in partnership with BIOCOM, provide
graduating college-bound high school and undergraduate college students
the opportunity to participate in internships each summer. These opportunities provide
further awareness of careers in the biotech industry and give students
practical, hands-on work experience in their field of interest. In
addition, the BEDC awards college scholarships to motivated students
pursuing education and careers in the sciences. Scholarship applicants
must have a current/summer internship at a BEDC member biotech company
and be a San Diego resident. For additional
information about our intern and scholarship programs, contact Steve
Zug, Neurocrine Biosciences, szug@neurocrine.com or Mary Glanville, Anadys Pharmaceuticals, myaroshevsky@anadyspharma.com.
